Formula
Annual kWh = kW × hours × (average load % ÷ 100). Energy-only cost = kWh × tariff.
Worked example
1,000 kW × 8,760 h × 70% = 6,132,000 kWh. At 0.12 per kWh the energy component is 735,840 currency units.
What this calculation does not cover
Results use the currency of your input tariff. Demand charges, time-of-use variations, fixed fees, taxes and power-factor penalties are excluded. Use 8,784 hours only for a leap-year scenario.
Using the result responsibly
Keep a record of the input units and operating assumptions. A change in one input can make two apparently similar equipment options impossible to compare. Export the scenario before reviewing it with your engineer or equipment manufacturer.
