Market research method

A transformer lead time needs a date and a definition.

Separate broad supply-chain context from the commitments in a specific project.

Industry context is not a quotation

Grid-equipment supply-chain reports help explain why availability can be a concern. They do not describe the production slot, drawings, tests and logistics for an individual order. Keep the sector report and the project delivery estimate in separate columns.

Define when the clock starts

An estimate measured from purchase order acceptance is not the same as one measured from approved drawings or released materials. Ask what prerequisites must be complete before the stated interval begins. An apparently shorter number may simply use a later starting milestone.

A research checklist

  • Exact rating, voltages, configuration, cooling and accessories.
  • Factory location and offered manufacturing slot.
  • Quotation date, validity and revision.
  • Start milestone and prerequisites for production.
  • Drawing review responsibilities and expected approval sequence.
  • Factory testing scope and witness requirements.
  • Shipping boundary, transport restrictions and site readiness.
  • What changes would invalidate the estimate.

Record uncertainty honestly

Use “not confirmed” when you have no current evidence. Avoid copying a precise week count into a general product guide without its date and scope. The more configuration-dependent a statement is, the less useful it becomes as an evergreen market fact.

Why we do not publish a live lead-time league table

We do not have a transaction-level verification feed. Ranking manufacturers by copied or illustrative delivery ranges would give readers a false impression of comparability. Our role is to provide the research framework and link to identifiable sources.
