kW to kVA Calculator

Calculations run in your browser. Sharing puts numeric assumptions in the link. No registration required.

Formula

kVA = kW ÷ PF.

Worked example

1,000 kW at a power factor of 0.90 corresponds to 1,111.1 kVA.

What this calculation does not cover

Enter electrical input kW, not motor mechanical output. If you start with shaft power, account for motor efficiency separately. A single PF may not describe mixed loads accurately.

Using the result responsibly

Keep a record of the input units and operating assumptions. A change in one input can make two apparently similar equipment options impossible to compare. Export the scenario before reviewing it with your engineer or equipment manufacturer.
