Formula

IT kW = count × watts ÷ 1,000 + other IT kW. Facility kW = IT kW × planning PUE. Annual kWh = facility kW × (electrical load % ÷ 100) × 8,760.

Worked example

100 complete systems at 10,000 W, plus 100 kW of other IT, give 1,100 kW IT and 1,375 kW facility demand at a planning PUE of 1.25.

What this calculation does not cover

GPU-only mode requires you to include CPUs, memory, networking, storage and conversion overhead in “additional IT”. Electrical load fraction is not GPU compute utilization. A planning PUE is a scenario input, not a measured annual PUE.

Using the result responsibly

Keep a record of the input units and operating assumptions. A change in one input can make two apparently similar equipment options impossible to compare. Export the scenario before reviewing it with your engineer or equipment manufacturer.
